Attendees of this Personal Licence Course will receive a fully accredited certificate upon successful completion of the examination, which can then be used to apply for the Personal Alcohol Licence to the local licensing authority.

What does it cover?
The aim of this qualification is to provide individuals with essential knowledge of the legal framework surrounding the sale of alcohol in England and Wales. This includes key information on the responsibilities of personal licence holders, duties of the designated premises supervisor, the role of licensing authorities and police powers regarding licensed premises.

Our experienced tutor will make sure that all attendees are well prepared to sit the exam in the afternoon. There will be some tasks to complete after each module and mock exam at the end of the training session. Mock exam will be discussed together as a group to clarify correct answers.
Exam and Certificate
Exam: It is assessed by a 40-question multiple-choice examination which takes 40-60 minutes to complete. Learners must achieve a mark of at least 28 in order to pass.
Certificate: It can take up to 7 working days to receive the results. Once the personal licence exam is marked as passed, the email will be sent directly to you with the certificate attached.

What does the ‘virtual course’ mean?
On certain dates, we offer the course via virtual live stream, allowing participants from various locations to join. The course maintains the same structure and content as an in-person class. We will provide all necessary resources in advance, enabling you to participate from the comfort of your home. The official exam will be conducted on the same day through remote invigilation.
What is required for a personal licence application?
In order to apply for a personal licence to your local licensing authority, you will need the following:
- Completed Application and Declaration forms
- Personal Licence accredited qualification (level 2 Award for personal licence holders)
- 2 passport-size photographs (endorsed)
- DBS check
- Copy of passport (or proof of right to work in the UK)

Does a Personal Licence expire?
No – the personal licences issued by the local authority will last indefinitely. That means it never expires.
Does a personal licence holder have to be on site at all times?
No. The Designated Premises Supervisor, who must be a personal licence holder, can authorise the sale of alcohol on licensed premises. That means, other members of staff can sell alcohol even if personal licence holder is not on site.
