Accredited Personal Licence training Course – Highfield Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (RQF)

Qualification accreditation number 603/2597/5

Personal licence training course, regulated by both Ofqual and the Home Office, has been designed to meet the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003. Furthermore, whilst comprehensively covering the full framework as set down by the Government, this qualification is extremely straight-forward, user-friendly and free from unnecessary jargon. It also provides excellent value for money without compromising on quality.

Achievement of this qualification forms an essential part of the personal licence application in England or Wales. It enables those selling or authorizing alcohol sales to operate both legally and responsibly.

Attendees of this Personal Licence Course will receive a fully accredited certificate upon successful completion of the examination, which can then be used to apply for the Personal Alcohol Licence to the local licensing authority.

All our personal licence courses are led by an experienced tutor, who makes sure that the ambience during the training course is friendly and professional.

If none of the dates suit you, we do offer approved personal licence courses online. It is an online e learning course with a remotely invigilated exam. Further details here.

What does it cover?

The aim of this qualification is to provide individuals with essential knowledge of the legal framework surrounding the sale of alcohol in England and Wales. This includes key information on the responsibilities of personal licence holders, duties of the designated premises supervisor, the role of licensing authorities and police powers regarding licensed premises.

Modules covered during 1 day full course:

  • The Licencing Act 2003
  • Personal Licence
  • Premises Licence
  • The Protection of children
  • Powers and enforcement
  • Temporary Event Notice
  • Responsibility in alcohol retailing

Our experienced tutor will make sure that all attendees are well prepared to sit the exam in the afternoon. There will be some tasks to complete after each module and mock exam at the end of the training session. Mock exam will be discussed together as a group to clarify correct answers.

Exam: It is assessed by a 40-question multiple-choice examination which takes 40-60 minutes to complete. Learners must achieve a mark of at least 28 in order to pass.

Certificate: It can take up to 7 working days to receive the results. Once the personal licence exam is marked as passed, the email will be sent directly to you with the certificate attached.

What’s included?

Price includes all course materialsregistrationexamination and certification fees – absolutely no hidden costs.

Discounts available for multiple bookings ( 4 or more attendees from one workplace) or providing location. Contact us for details.

What does the ‘virtual course’ mean?

On certain dates, we offer the course via virtual live stream, allowing participants from various locations to join. The course maintains the same structure and content as an in-person class. We will provide all necessary resources in advance, enabling you to participate from the comfort of your home. The official exam will be conducted on the same day through remote invigilation.

What is required for a personal licence application?

In order to apply for a personal licence to your local licensing authority, you will need the following:

  • Completed Application and Declaration forms
  • Personal Licence accredited qualification (level 2 Award for personal licence holders)
  • 2 passport-size photographs (endorsed)
  • DBS check
  • Copy of passport (or proof of right to work in the UK)

For your fast-track and stress-free application we do offer a Personal licence application service.

Does a Personal Licence expire?

No – the personal licence issued by the local authority will last indefinitely. That means it never expires.

Does a personal licence holder have to be on site at all times?

No. The Designated Premises Supervisor, who must be a personal licence holder, can authorise the sale of alcohol on licensed premises. That means, other members of staff can sell alcohol even if personal licence holder is not on site.
